On the road to success with compressed air technologies. AERZEN is breaking new ground.

AERZEN, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of machines for conveying and compressing gases, is opening a new chapter in its more than 160-year company history: with the acquisition of ACI – Air Center International GmbH, the pioneer in compressor technology is entering the business field of industrial compressed air applications of more than 3.5 bar. The takeover was completed on 29 April 2025, making ACI a wholly owned subsidiary of Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH. AERZEN thus offers a complete product portfolio of oil-free as well as oil- and water-injected compressors for the first time.

The momentum behind the decision had already come apparent at the Hanover Fair 2025: there, AERZEN presented new air compressors in the pressure range from 4 to 13 bar for the first time. Until now, the Lower Saxony-based family business with over 50 subsidiaries worldwide had been primarily established in the low-pressure range up to 3.5 bar, particularly for applications such as wastewater treatment and the pneumatic transport of bulk materials, powders or foodstuffs. However, many industries require higher pressures: oil-free and oil-injected compressed air is standard in dairies, cement works and chemical plants. AERZEN had not hitherto been able to meet this demand. This now changes with immediate effect.

ACI: unique know-how in the process and compressed air range

ACI has the necessary expertise for this. Founded in 2008, the company has a broad portfolio: from oil-free and oil-injected screw compressors in single or multi-stage versions to scroll and piston compressors and accessory solutions for air conditioning such as dryers and heat exchangers. The applications range from firefighting technology to the railway industry, mining, shipbuilding, agriculture, medical technology and stationary industrial plants. The multi-stage oil-free compressors are considered to be particularly energy efficient. The three-stage packages are unique in the market.

With more than 1,000 customers in 78 countries and a strong partner network, ACI has considerable international experience. Within the AERZEN Group, the company will remain part of the compressed air technology product line at the Oberhausen location and will continue to be managed by ACI General Manager Miroslaw Gruschka. The local team is currently being expanded considerably. At the same time, AERZEN is expanding its global sales organisation and plans to employ more than 50 sales experts in the field of compressed air technology worldwide. The starting signal has already been given in the EMEA region, with APAC to follow at the beginning of 2026 and then the AMERICAS.

Perfect addition to the portfolio – strengthened market position

Thanks to the integration of ACI, AERZEN will in future cover compressed air applications from 2.5 to 40 bar, with a focus on 4 to 13 bar, thereby significantly strengthening its market position. “This step enables us to establish the technological basis for offering our customers all relevant industrial compressed air technology solutions from one single source in future. This expands our business field and closes important gaps in our product portfolio. At the same time, we are continuing to expand our company’s expertise, strengthening our presence in core industrial markets and emphasising our performance promise: Expect Performance!”, explains Klaus-Peter Glöckner, General Manager of AERZEN.
